Position Brief: Overnight Heavy Equipment Transporter

In the vast, sprawling layout of an Amazon Sortation Center, moving massive volumes of consolidated freight requires heavy-duty mechanical assistance. We rely on elite equipment drivers to transport tons of inventory across the facility floor safely and efficiently during the quiet overnight hours. As a 3rd Shift Sortation Forklift Operator (internally known as a Powered Industrial Truck or PIT Operator), you are a highly specialized and deeply respected member of the graveyard team. Core Operational Directives

Operating Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) at Amazon goes far beyond a standard sit-down forklift. Our Sortation facilities utilize a diverse fleet of high-tech machinery, primarily Center Riders and Pallet Jacks, to move freight from the sorting chutes to the outbound docks.

• Nocturnal Bulk Transport: Safely operate Center Riders or Electric Pallet Jacks to securely clamp and transport massive, shrink-wrapped pallets weighing hundreds of pounds across the facility, ensuring the sorting lines never back up due to staged freight.
• Trailer Loading Assistance: Assist the outbound dock teams by carefully driving loaded pallets directly into the bellies of 53-foot commercial semi-trailers, executing precision placements to maximize truck capacity before dawn.
• Rigorous Safety Auditing: Before the keys ever turn at midnight, you will execute a comprehensive, digitally logged mechanical inspection of your machinery, checking battery levels, horn functionality, and brake integrity to prevent catastrophic failures.
• Pedestrian Vigilance: Maintain absolute, uncompromising awareness of your perimeter. The 3rd shift sort center is heavily populated with pedestrians; your adherence to horn-honking at intersections and strict speed limit compliance must be flawless.

Candidate Criteria & Qualifications
